In August 2018 I cycled across the Outer Hebrides beginning my journey on the isle of Barra and returning from Stornoway on Lewis.
It took time to shed the city and my everyday worries. But the further I cycled the more I tuned into a new frequency around me. I shifted into a slower pace and into geological time. The islands are made up of the oldest rock on earth - Lewisian Gneiss.
I collected plants, bones, shells, feathers and driftwood and captured some of my impressions with water colour and coloured pencil.
